XBOX One February Update is rolling out now

image Good news… the XBOX One February update is starting to roll out.  I have already rec’d the update on my XBOX One.  What’s new?  Check out Major Nelson’s blog.

The biggest feature I’m happy to get back is the ability to see the battery power indicator so I know when my controller needs to be charged.

Happy playing!!!

Xbox One–Complaints Fixed

It’s been about 3 weeks since Microsoft did a big reveal on the brand new Xbox system, now known as Xbox One.  During this event, Microsoft showcased the amazing features and capabilities of the Xbox One as a Home Entertainment Device

What is the Xbox One?

A summary by Microsoft on Xbox One

Welcome to a new generation of games and entertainment. Where games push the boundaries of realism.  And television obeys your every command. Where listening to music while playing a game is a snap.  And you can jump from TV to movies to music to a game in an instant. Where your experience is custom  tailored to you. And the entertainment you love is all in one place. Welcome to the all-in-one, Xbox One.

If you missed the event but want to watch the one hour press conference, you can watch it from YouTube.

Since the big reveal, Microsoft also participated in E3 where the focus of Xbox One was all about games, games, games!  There is a lot of excitement and accomplishments the Xbox team can be proud of; however, the event was overshadowed by two major complaints by the gaming industry:  1) an internet connection was required to “check-in” every 24 hours and 2) difficulty in sharing, loaning, or selling your purchased game discs.

Today, there was a major announcement by Don Mattrick, President of Interactive Entertainment Business, regarding the major complaints issued towards the Xbox One in a post:  Your Feedback Matters – Update on Xbox One

In response to the feedback received, the following was updated:

An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.

Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.

This should silence many of the critics… maybe it is time for you to reserve your Xbox One now.  Here is the link to order from the Microsoft Store
