A new case study was just published and was highlighted during Microsoft’s Management Summit this week. A Michigan based company bets big with Windows Server and Hyper-V. I can’t be more proud of this case study and knowing that they are just down the street in Ann Arbor.
Congratulations to Domino’s and Thank You.

Are you considering the switch from VMWare? Read the whitepaper: Why Hyper-V? Competitive Advantages of Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V over VMWare vSphere 5.1
Departing a little from my usual posts on Windows Client and related news, I want to share my continued excitement with the investments from Microsoft related to Windows Server (specifically Windows Server 2012).
Whether your setting up a single server for your small business or looking to transform your datacenter environment, Windows Server 2012 can deliver. Windows Server 2012 has 4 key tenants to help your organization cloud-optimize your IT while saving costs on expensive solutions that are difficult to integrate.
- Built from the Cloud Up – Windows Server 2012 is designed for IT pros to optimize for the cloud while satisfying business needs faster and more efficiently by providing a highly available, easy-to-manage, multi-server platform that offers the following benefits: Flexible Storage, Continuous Availability, and Management Efficiency
- Transform the Datacenter – If you want the flexibility of a private cloud, implementing solutions in a virtualized environment is not enough. Windows Server 2012 lets you go beyond virtualization to deploy and more securely connect to private clouds in a flexible IT environment that adapts dynamically to changing business needs. New and enhanced features provide high performance and scalability to enable a truly multitenant infrastructure where networking, compute, and storage resources are isolated among tenants on the same host.
- Enable Modern Apps – Windows Server 2012 is a proven application and web platform that includes thousands of applications already built and deployed. It offers the flexibility to build infrastructure across premises on an open, scalable, and elastic web and application platform.
- Empower People-centric IT – Windows Server 2012 empowers IT to provide users with flexible access to data and applications from virtually anywhere, on popular devices—all with a rich user experience. It also simplifies management and improves data security, control, and compliance. Windows Server 2012 offers the following benefits to IT pros and end users: Access from virtually anywhere on any device, Full Windows experience anywhere, with Enhanced Data Security and Compliance.
Saving Costs with Windows Server 2012
There are two key areas that I want to focus on when considering cost savings with Windows Server 2012.
The first area is related to virtualization with Microsoft Hyper-V. Hyper-V has come a long way since its introduction as Windows Server Virtualization. Many large scale organizations are beginning to see the performance capabilities of Hyper-V and have evaluated their possible plans to migrate from the more expensive VMWare solution to Microsoft Hyper-V. With Windows Server 2012, this is made all the more possible with the technological breakthroughs of the platform and with the ease of management across the datacenter including the cloud. For your reference, I want to include a whitepaper for your research on why you should consider Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V for your organization? Whitepaper- Why Hyper-V? Competitive Advantages of Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V over VMWare vSphere 5.1.
Total Economic Impact of Windows Server 2012
The second are is just raw savings. Windows Server 2012 brings so much value to an organization. Many of my customers already own Windows Server and the upgrade rights to Windows Server 2012 and are looking for ways to prioritize the upgrades.
Put your own research to test by reviewing the Total Economic Impact of Windows Server 2012 whitepaper to see how Windows Server 2012 can benefit your organization and save costs.
