Windows 8” Tablet–The Acer ICONIA W3-810

imageThe first Windows 8” Tablet is currently shipping.  I have to admit, this one caught me by surprise.  I’ve been following the announcements and the buzz about the device, but didn’t check when it was shipping… I just estimated it would be July (after Microsoft’s Build event).

Thanks to my colleague, Jerry Carlson, for the updated info, I just placed my order for this device today from Office Depot.  Why Office Depot?  They were offering a $30 Instant Savings.  Total Cost of device + optional keyboard (and taxes) cost $450.

I purchased the 32 GB model since I could expand it with the MicroSD card slot or just leverage my cloud-based storage, SkyDrive.  With an 8 hour battery plus Microsoft Office Home & Student Edition pre-installed – not a trial, a full blown copy of Office 2013 – this could be a great portable device… a device that you can PLAY and WORK.
